Driver Middle School Indoor Track Open for Community Use
The DMS new gymnasium is primarily a physical education facility during the day. The raised three-lane walking/running trackover the basketball court was included to enhance our children’s physical education experience. In an effort to promote wellness, the district would like to make the indoor track facility available for community use.
The track will be open to the community from Columbus Day through Memorial Day. For convenience in remembering the times, the hours will be 7:00-8:00 P.M. for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
Participants will enter from the eastside lobby door. The locker rooms will also be made available for those who wish to change prior to their workout. Community members wishing to use the track should proceed to the gym and up the stairs to the track. There will be a school district supervisor on duty to greet and sign in community members. The district will use this “sign-in” procedure to determine if the hours of community use should be expanded or reduced based on the interest level. It is asked that only sneakers be used to walk or run on the track. Children/students are encouraged to accompany their parents with the understanding that their supervision is the responsibility of the parents. Unaccompanied students/children may not use the track. Unfortunately, strollers are not permitted on the track surface. Upon completion of their workout, community members may once again use the locker room to shower and/or change before they leave. Participants are reminded that they will be responsible for the safety and security of their own belongings and valuables while they are visiting the indoor track facility.
