8 students earn NYS Seal of Biliteracy
Marcellus is proud to announce that 8 students have earned the NY State Seal of Biliteracy. The New York State Seal of Biliteracy (NYSSB) recognizes high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in one or more languages in addition to English. The intent of the seal is to identify high school students with language and literacy skills for employers and universities, prepare students with twenty-first century skills, and affirm diversity in a multilingual society. Candidates for the seal give a 15 minute presentation in a new language to a panel of judges. The students choose the topic and the presentation is followed by questions. We are very proud of the language skills, poise, and hard work of these 8 students. This year was even more challenging as students had to present from home on a screen! Bravo!
Congratulations to the following students!
- Thomas Hoey
- Kaitlyn Kemp
- Mary Seymour
- Macie Szalach
- Elaina Couse
- Emily Falge
- Amy Francesconi
