District to stop sending emails via School News Notifier
July 25, 2019 -- As of Aug. 1, Marcellus Central School District will be discontinuing its use of School News Notifier (SNN) as a way to push out district and school-level news to subscribers. But don’t worry about keeping tabs on what’s happening here on campus. The district still has at its disposal a variety of communication tools to share information about the district and our schools, including school closing or delay notices, student and staff achievements and recognitions and district budget news.
The district website is updated several times each week with information about district and building-level activities, programs and announcements. In addition to district information, such as the budget and health services departments, each school has its own section on the website.
The district has an official Facebook page and Twitter account: www.facebook.com/MarcellusCSD and @MarcellusCSD. In addition, Marcellus High School Principal John Durkee shares high school news on Instagram (www.instagram.com/StangPrincipal) and Twitter (@StangPrincipal). Superintendent Michelle Brantner also tweets @MarcellusSuper.
Driver Middle School Principal Janet O'Mara regularly posts updates about DMS on a blog, DMS News & Notes, which you can find online at http://drivermsnews.blogspot.com. K.C. Heffernan Elementary School Principal Robert Montgomery, meanwhile, sends out frequent announcements and alerts via the Remind™ app. To download the free app and sign up for Mr. Montgomery's messages, text "@k6d7dg" to 81010 from your smart device.
Marcellus uses the notification system School Messenger™ to deliver important messages, via recorded voice notifications, to district families about inclement weather, safety alerts, school closings or other important information impacting the school. The primary contact phone number listed first in SchoolTool will be the one used most frequently.
