Students inducted into French, Spanish honor societies
June 3, 2019 -- Eighteen students from Marcellus High School were inducted into the National French and Spanish Honor Societies on May 22. The French students were Elaina Couse, Emily Falge and Amy Francesconi, and the the Spanish students were Sarah Fallon, John Flynn, Thomas Hoey, Tristan Jarvi, Kaitlyn Kemp, Madison Kittelberger, Mei LaMarre, Lillian Locastro, DiAnna Markham, Megan Mitchell, Mary Seymour, Elena Shaw, Ryan Stoyell, Macie Szalach and Alexandria Wennberg.
To be eligible for induction, students must earn a 90 or above average for each year of language study and continue their language coursework throughout their entire high school career. Eligible candidates also must be approved by the language committee, comprised of faculty and administration.
“This is a significant honor, and these students should be commended for their hard work,” teacher Shelly Marsh said. “Next year, this group will continue to promote the rich and diverse cultures of French and Spanish-speaking peoples and maintain its commitment to high academic achievement.”
