Character Education club hosts picnic for Syracuse kindergartners

June 8, 2018 -- Check out this great video of a picnic planned and hosted by members of the Marcellus Character Education club to entertain kindergartners from Frazer Elementary School in Syracuse.

Made up of students in grades nine through 12, Character Education organizes fundraisers, runs a toy/clothing/book drive and works at all Marcellus shows, including the coffee house. The picnic was a new addition this year, to provide fun, kindness and space for the Frazer students, according to faculty adviser Laura Kuhns.

“Our goal is to have a club that is all-inclusive and provides an atmosphere of tolerance, kindness, respect and integrity,” Ms. Kuhns said. “We host several activities to reach students who may not usually shine or have a place to fit in. I believe our students have learned a lot from these interactions about other cultures and socioeconomic situations.”

The picnic was held May 31 at Marcellus Park.
