June 22, 2017 -- After 10 weeks of training, the 2017 Marcellus Girls on the Run team participated in Paige's Butterfly Run in Syracuse on June 3.
The team consists of 32 girls in grades 2-6 and 13 coaches -- nine teachers and four Marcellus parents. According to Kelly O'Connor, a K.C. Elementary School teacher and team captain, the girls wanted to run in Paige’s Butterfly Run for a variety of reasons, including "a love of running, being able to run (and raise money) for children who have cancer and because they are healthy enough to be able to run."
Paige's Butterfly Run is an annual event in downtown Syracuse that raises money for research on pediatric cancer and blood disorders.
Way to go, runners!
